About Florence

Florence Chi Suen Cheng received her Master of Music in Choral Conducting at San Francisco State University under scholarship, where she was studying choral conducting with Dr. Joshua Habermann, having voice lessons with Catherine Cook in the San Francisco Conservatory of Music as principle study.

Cheng was the conductor and vocal coach of San Francisco State University Women’s Chorus, a member of San Francisco Symphony Chorus, a member and assistant conductor of Symphony Silicon Valley Chorale and Symphony Silicon Valley Singers.

Cheng is currently the conductor of Hong Kong Baptist University Mixed Voice Choir, Hong Kong Children’s Choir, Diosesan Boys’ School Treble Choir, community choirs and churches. In the past years, she served as the music director of the Hong Kong Youth Choir and choir conductor of the Hong Kong International Institute of Music. Cheng is actively performing as a choral conductor with diverse repertoire including standard choral works, choral-orchestral work and opera, such as Palestrina’s Motets, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Bizet’s Carmen, Durufle’s Requiem, Gounod’s St. Cecilia Mass, Britten’s Five Flowers Songs, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and Steiner’s Crucifixion. She also actively performs as a soprano.

鄭之璿畢業於三藩市州立大學音樂碩士課程, 主修合唱指揮, 獲獎學金及師隨Dr. Joshua Habermann及隨三藩市音樂學院老師Catherine Cook學習聲樂為第二主修.

在美期間，鄭氏曾為三藩市州立大學女聲合唱團指揮及聲樂指導, 三藩市州立大學音樂學科Ear Training and Musicianship教學助理, 三藩市州立大學室樂合唱團成員, 三藩市交響樂團合團團成員, 矽谷交響合唱團及其室樂合唱團之成員和助理指揮，也是American Choral Directors Association及Chorus America 會員。她於二零零七年六月獲獎學金參加在洛杉磯舉行的Chorus America Conference 2007。鄭氏活躍於合唱活動, 經常到訪不同合唱團, 包括三藩市交響樂團合團, San Francisco Girls’ Chorus, San Francisco Choral Artist, Chanticleer, Crystal Children’s Choir.

鄭氏現為香港漫會大學合唱團指揮、香港兒童合唱團高級組及青年組指揮、並為多所學校和教會合唱團提供合唱及聲樂課程，並為不同學校於香港校際音樂節提供獨唱、合唱訓練，及領團到海外演出。鄭氏曾擔任香港青年合唱團音樂總監及香港國際音樂學校合唱團指揮。鄭氏亦常與合唱團演唱不同風格的合唱作品，有文藝復興時期以至現代合唱音樂、大型神劇、歌劇及音樂劇，也活躍於聲樂演出及教學。
